Fujii Shumei - Born in Arita Town in 1936. From the age of 15, he worked at Akaeda and a ceramics company in the town. In 1962, his work "Kanryu" was first selected for the Nitten Exhibition and has been selected 15 times since then. In 1963, he became independent as a brocade processing company and in 1974 he opened Shumeigama朱明窯. He has won many awards, including the Japan Ceramic Art Exhibition, the Kyushu Yamaguchi Ceramics Exhibition Minister of Education Award and the Japan New Crafts Exhibition Japan New Crafts Award. Using a technique of using tree leaves to dye, he expresses the mental landscape of Arita in every season. He is a friend of the Nitten Association and a member of the Saga Art Association.
